Event Convocation in GCIITs Hall, Mawkyrwat
Celebrating over 250 graduating students who successfully completed technical and computing diplomas across South West Khasi Hills district.
A Milestone Day for Rural Technical Youth
The Grand Auditorium at GCIIT Mawkyrwat was filled with celebratory applause as the institute hosted its Annual Skill Convocation & Certificate Distribution Ceremony 2026. Over 250 ambitious students from South West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, and West Khasi Hills gathered with their families, instructors, and community leaders to receive their recognized diplomas.
The convocation marks the culmination of rigorous classroom instruction, hands-on lab training, and practical apprenticeships across twelve specialized technical, computing, and vocational trades designed to bridge the rural-urban employment divide.
Conferral of Certifications & Diplomas
Diplomas were awarded across both long-term and intensive certificate tracks, including:

Industry Placement Drive & Outstanding Student Awards
A notable feature of this year’s ceremony was the on-spot distribution of placement letters. Over 45 regional recruiters, IT centers, automotive workshops, and hospitality partners conducted final rounds leading up to the convocation, resulting in immediate job offers and paid internships for 84% of eligible graduates.
Six exceptional students were honoured with the GCIIT Academic Excellence Trophy and merit starter toolkits to help them launch their independent entrepreneurial enterprises in Mawkyrwat and neighbouring villages.
